As I laid in bed the other night waiting to fall asleep, I began wondering about the feeling of pain. I wondered about its importance and yet its the least favorable feeling there is (that is in my opinion).
No one ever really wants to feel pain, but physical pain is mostly a sign of tissue damage. Now, imagine a world where individuals do not feel pain. People will be walking the streets with fingers, toes and limbs falling off without the individuals knowing about it. Infections will grow rampant and mortality rates will sky rocket. All in all not a good situation.
TMI alert!!! A few years ago, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and let me tell you the pain of endometriosis is nothing to laugh about. But I try to stay optimistic and search for silver lining in situations. As bad as it gets, I want to say I am happy I can feel pain.
So the next time you stub your toe or walk into a wall in a dark room (both those things have happened to me), be thankful for the pain you feel it and turn that “ouch” and ‘frown’ into a ‘woohoo’ and a smile.
